Matrix Martial Arts 3.0

Matrix Martial Arts 3.0 Grand Opening in Pedreguer

Welcome all, fighters and enthusiasts!

April is here, and with it comes such exciting news from our favourite MMA school. Matrix Martial Arts 3.0 is now open! It’s been a journey filled with hard work, dedication, and a few unexpected twists, but the new location is finally ready. Before we dive into the details of the grand opening, let’s take a moment to reflect on the memorable moments we shared in March.

Matrix martial arts members watching Rafael Lovato Jr's fight in Gata

Last month, the Matrix family gathered in Gata for a memorable evening to watch the highly anticipated Rafael Lovato Jr. fight. The air was charged with adrenaline as we gathered to witness the clash of two titans in the world of Brazilian Jiujitsu. The energy in the room was lit, fuelled by our shared passion for the sport and the electrifying atmosphere of the event.

Of course, no Matrix gathering would be complete without a touch of creativity and flair. The highlight of the evening came in the form of Matrix-themed cupcakes!! Special thanks go out to Georgina for organising the event—it was truly a night to remember. We are reminded once again that Matrix is more than just a martial arts school—it’s a community bound by a shared love for the sport and a commitment to growth, both on and off the mats.

NoGi Fundamentals

The NoGi grappling class in March has been looking into the intricacies of transitioning from closed guard—a fundamental position in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu—to passing. Learning how to effectively open from closed guard and execute passes not only enhances technical abilities but also cultivates invaluable skills applicable both on and off the mats. By mastering these fundamentals, practitioners develop a deeper understanding of leverage, balance, and timing, which are essential elements in any combat scenario.

Catch, Parry, Cover…

The MMA class explored defensive techniques such as catch, parry, cover etc without the aid of pads and gloves. This stripped-down approach allows focus solely on the fundamentals of timing, distance, and precision. By honing these defensive skills in a realistic, hands-on environment, practitioners gain a deeper understanding of self-defence strategies that can be applied in real-life situations. Additionally, training without pads and gloves fosters a heightened sense of awareness and adaptability, as students learn to rely on their instincts and body mechanics to evade strikes and counter effectively.

Matrix Martial Arts 3.0 grand opening in Pedreguer

Now, as we transition to April, the doors to Matrix Martial Arts 3.0 are officially OPEN! We couldn’t be more excited for this amazing opportunity within the Pedreguer community and beyond. The new location is not just a space for training; it’s a hub for growth, hitting fitness goals, and personal development. Whether you’re a seasoned martial artist or a beginner taking your first steps into the world of martial arts, there’s a place for you at Matrix.

The journey of relocating the school has been nothing short of a Herculean effort, requiring immense dedication and perseverance every step of the way. It all began with the daunting task of demolishing the old school, followed by the painstaking process of clearing out what seemed like an endless sea of mats—each representing countless hours of training, sweat, and determination.

As the old location was closing and we started on the transition to our new home, numerous obstacles were encountered along the way. Delays with builders and electricians tested patience to say the least. However, amidst the challenges, one individual stood out as a beacon of resilience and resourcefulness: Professor Steve Newman. Not content with merely being a martial arts instructor, Professor Steve donned multiple hats—electrician, builder, and all-around handyman—to ensure that the new school would rise from the ground up. His unwavering commitment and tireless work ethic have been instrumental in turning the Matrix 3.0 vision into a reality. As members of the Matrix family, we are deeply grateful to Professor Steve for his dedication to bringing and continuing to nurture this sport in our lives. Without his leadership and determination, none of this would have been possible, and for that, we extend our heartfelt thanks.

Early Birthday Surprises

Amidst the bustling construction work, Matrix members came together and surprised Professor with an early birthday gift. We all chipped in to get a new TV for the school and it now proudly blasts top tunes around the mats. Special thanks to Richard for organising the surprise and cheers to Professor for 22nd April!

Now onto the really good stuff. The new Matrix Martial Arts school is nothing short of incredible. Since opening its doors to the public on April 6th, it has quickly become a hub of activity and excitement within the community. One memorable event that highlighted the welcoming atmosphere of our new school was the awesome BBQ held on opening day. Members came together and contributed a delicious array of homemade dishes. Special thanks to Georgina for kindly lending a monster of a BBQ that left everyone’s taste buds tingling with delight! The sight of our vibrant Matrix community enjoying good food and great company truly encapsulated the spirit of Matrix Martial Arts 3.0. With its modern facilities and inviting ambiance, the new location has become a beacon for martial arts enthusiasts and curious onlookers alike. As people stop to watch classes and events, we hope to inspire the locals to join up and experience the countless benefits of martial arts training first-hand. Have you seen the new school yet?
